What you will learn

  1. 01Trace energy from the module to the meter.
  2. 02Explain the DC/AC ratio and clipping trade-off.
  3. 03Separate equipment qualification from project yield.

Core concepts

ModuleStringTrackerInverterDC/AC ratio

01

One system, several boundaries

Modules create DC power; strings aggregate it; structures set geometry; inverters convert and control; transformers raise voltage; switchgear, protection and monitoring make operation possible. Every performance claim must identify its measurement boundary.

02

Design is a system trade-off

A higher DC/AC ratio may improve inverter utilization and lower unit costs while increasing clipping and electrical loading. The answer depends on resource, tariff, temperature, equipment limits, degradation and contract assumptions.

Decision notes

  • 01IEC 61215 qualification does not guarantee a 25- or 30-year life.
  • 02Monitoring must make losses and availability auditable.
