What you will learn
- 01Map voltage, frequency, fault and protection studies.
- 02Distinguish grid-following from grid-forming behavior.
- 03Treat connection approval as site-specific.

01
What an interconnection study asks
The operator evaluates whether the proposed resource can connect without unacceptable thermal, voltage, protection, stability or power-quality impacts. Scope depends on size, technology, network strength, operating mode and local procedure.
02
Standards are a baseline
IEEE and IEC documents define common capabilities and test approaches, but they do not grant a permit. The binding edition comes from the operator, regulator, adopted code, contract or authority having jurisdiction.
Decision notes
- 01A queue position is not a construction-ready project.
- 02Grid-forming capability does not automatically provide black start.
